When the city winds down.

In Camberwell along, hundreds of businesses - from offices and neighbourhood shops to medical clinics, studios and cafes, rely on clean spaces everyday.
At the end of the day, as people head h home and businesses close, countless cleaners arrive to begin their work.
They work quietly, often unseen, preparing spaces for the people who will return tomorrow.
Commercial cleaning is one of the oldest and most essential services in our communities. It isn't glamorous, and it rarely gets much attention. But without it, very little would run as smoothly as we expect.
That's what first drew us to this industry.
Not because cleaning is complicated, but because something so essential deserves to be done much better.
The problem
isn't the work.
The cleaning industry has its challenges. High staff turnover, inconsistent training, communication gaps and constant pressure on costs are familiar problems.
But we believe many of these issues begin with how the work is organised.
Cleaners are often paid by the hour, with limited opportunities for stable, predictable income. People move between jobs, leave without much notice or take on long commutes between sites.
For independent contractors, travel time and expenses can quietly consume a significant part of what they earn.
Meanwhile, the people selling the service and communicating with clients may have little contact with the people actually delivering it.
And when those two sides rarely meet, how can anyone truly understand the work, let alone maintain a consistent standard?
We don't believe these problems are inevitable. We believe they are problems worth designing around.

So we chose a different way.
We started Simple Creature Works with a few deliberate decisions designed to elevate the standard of commercial cleaning through focus and care.
01
Stay local.
We focus on Camberwell and Melbourne's Inner East. Shorter travel distances mean less wasted time, closer supervision and more attention where it matters — on site.
02
Build a team.
We hire people who find genuine satisfaction in doing small, everyday things well. We believe they deserve fair, reliable pay, recognition and opportunities to grow within a meaningful environment.
03
Set the standard.
Every new site begins with our hands-on supervision to understand the space and develop precision procedures. Performance is continuously rewarded through rigorous quality checks and client feedback.
04
Grow at pace.
Finding people who genuinely care about their work takes time. We would rather grow carefully with the right team than grow quickly at the expense of our standards and reputation.
Care is in the details.
Good intentions alone don't make a good cleaning company. The everyday details do.
How we select our products. How we separate cleaning tools to prevent cross-contamination. How cloths and mop pads are laundered. How we approach different surfaces, organise our equipment and refine the sequence of work.
These aren't extraordinary ideas. They are small, practical decisions that add up to a better result.
We support them with documented procedures, accessible site information and digital systems that keep instructions, safety requirements, communication and service records organised.
Technology doesn't replace good people or good judgement. It helps them do their work with greater confidence and consistency. And we keep learning. From our team, from our clients and from the small things we discover on site every day.
We want to build a company where people are proud of their work, clients feel genuinely looked after, and the quality of our service speaks for itself.
Not the biggest cleaning company. Just one that's thoughtful about the way it works.
Commercial cleaning, thoughtfully delivered.
